The Townsville Business Women’s Circle is a not for profit entity which started in September 2015. The management committee is made up of 7 local women who are passionate about providing working women, men and business with a platform for professional education and growth.

Megan started her career in Customer Service working in the Insurance industry at AMP, a role that enabled her to gain a wealth of experience in the corporate space.
Megan moved on from AMP Insurance and worked in Travel Retail before moving on to establish herself in the Sales and Marketing sector. Whilst working within the Sales and Marketing sector at Townsville’s local radio station and Duo Magazine she gained valuable experience in both print and radio media sector.
Personally driven by a genuine passion to work hard and help people, Megan started working at First Things First in a marketing role in 2008. She quickly scaled the managerial ladder and in 2011 acquired the business taking on the role of Owner/Director. As Director of First Things First Megan has taken every opportunity to grow the business whilst improving service quality and standard of care. Subsequently, she has gained a reputation for inspiring people to achieve their Health and Wellness goals. Megan takes great pride in providing wellness services unique to Townsville.
As owner and Director of a small business, Megan’s goals include quality customer satisfaction, staff empowerment, ongoing improvement, achieving predetermined KPI’s and ongoing financial control. Megan leads by example in showing passion and commitment and working tirelessly to deliver her business objective of providing the highest quality health and wellbeing expertise.
Megan is currently the president of Townsville Business Women’s Circle, empowering women and girls was a natural extension for her and this is role of which she is exceptionally proud. She played basketball locally for over 35 years and continues to give her time to the sport and has been in Vice President and currently the Secretary of Whirlwinds Basketball Club. Megan is the proud mother of her 16 year old son Boston and is in a relationship with her loving fiancé Dale Steele.

Jane has more than 10 years of professional experience in marketing, public relations and communications and has held positions within local government, tourism and events, transport, education and the mining and resources sector.
As a proud and passionate Townsvillian, Jane has held marketing, public relations and communication roles with Townsville Enterprise, Townsville City Council, Queensland Airports and now Adani Australia which has given her exposure to the challenges and opportunities facing regional Queensland, as well as issues in the social and political landscape.
Jane is also a 2017/18 graduate of the Townsville Enterprise Emerging Leaders Program.
As CEO, Marsha collaborates with the Board of Directors to establish and implement the leadership necessary to grow and sustain C2C as a progressive, responsive, respected and accountable organisation delivering excellent client-focused affordable housing services to the community we serve, and to instill and maintain exceptional team culture and morale in a challenging field of work.
As a junior, Marsha commenced employment with the state government managing public housing before moving to the not for profit sector eight years later. The label ‘homeless’ has a significant impact on the attitudes of people. Marsha values the mission and ethics of the company and the people who work in the sector to better inform, educate and challenge people.
I used to think that I needed to know how to do everything or at least be aware of it. It meant I wasn’t trusting my colleagues and I wasn’t delegating tasks to staff. Someone said to me ‘as a leader, you aren’t doing your job if your staff are not as good as, or better than you.’ I then realised the need to let go and surround myself with talented people who can share their knowledge with me and others when needed. I now feel very comfortable and confident when I am able to refer people to my staff, saying ‘I’m not the best person for you, but I can tell you who is’. It’s freed me up to focus on the strategic objectives of our company and given me a better work/life balance.
I don’t think success is a single target. It moves daily in both the personal and professional space. If I’m at home and unwell, making the bed and brushing my hair and teeth might be success as opposed to at work it might be seeing a client or staff member achieve one of their goals.
I like others, appreciate recognition and rewards for my achievements but I don’t necessarily feel that it means I’m successful. It just means I did well in one aspect of my life, but I could be struggling in others. I think that for me, I feel each day is a success if I’ve upheld my values. If I go to bed feeling well and that I’ve worked hard, supported and encouraged others, been kind to people (and myself) and not having major regrets, then that is probably a successful day. Also remembering, that failures are our greatest learnings and therefore will eventually form part of our success.
