About Glenys Schuntner

Glenys joined Regional Development Australia Townsville and North West Queensland (RDA) as CEO in April 2010 where her role is to facilitate and advocate for sustainable economic development. Her achievements at RDA include working with 28 local governments across Queensland on the Inland Queensland Roads Action Project (IQ-RAP) to help secure $1.6 billion in funding over the last 5 years. Glenys also chairs the Advisory Group on Northern Australia, as appointed by the Australian Government in March 2020 and is a member of several regional committees including the State Government appointed North West Minerals Province Stakeholder Advisory Committee. Glenys’ previous roles include CEO of Townsville Enterprise, the peak economic development and destination marketing organisation for the North Queensland region; and senior roles at the Australian Trade Commission such as the National Manager Major Events, Senior Trade Commissioner and Minister-Counsellor Commercial in Malaysia and Trade Commissioner and Consul Sendai, Japan. Glenys also worked for Northwest Airlines and retail travel agencies in Japan and Australia. In her private capacity, Glenys is the Chair of the JCU Townsville Fire Women’s National Basketball League team.
